Dudley George Gayle was born on April 23, 1941, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 13, 2026, in Appleton, Minnesota.
Dudley spent his early years in Jamaica, where he developed a lifelong love for physical activity, boating, and working with his hands as a mechanic. As a young man, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Queens, New York. He often spoke fondly of his time working as a shoe salesman before beginning a long and fulfilling career as an aircraft mechanic. Dudley proudly dedicated more than 20 years to American Airlines. He earned the respect of his colleagues and built many lasting friendships throughout his career.
In his later years, he made his home in South Florida, first in Fort Lauderdale and later in West Palm Beach where he enjoyed a vibrant and peaceful retirement. Dudley was deeply connected to the local Jamaican community where his warmth, humor, and generosity made everyone feel like family. He built many meaningful relationships and became a familiar and cherished presence to many.
Dudley is survived by his loving sons and daughters, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry forward his legacy. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, and the love he shared so freely with friends and family around the world. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
