Florence Emma Lauinger, 93, died peacefully at her home near Hancock, Minnesota under the care of Hospice on Wednesday, morning, September 29, 2021. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 3, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf, Minnesota and will continue on Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment will be in the St. Malachy’s Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Glacial Ridge Hospice and Home Health Care.
Florence Emma Lauinger was born on June 3, 1928, in Silva, North Dakota, the daughter of Jack and Barbara Meyer Voeller. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. She grew up and attended school in Fillmore, North Dakota.
On November 12, 1945 Florence was united in marriage to Leo Anton Lauinger by Father F. X. Miller at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Together they were able to share in over 67 years of marriage. This union was blessed with four children, ten grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. They moved to Minnesota in 1954 where they farmed in Hoff Township, Pope County. She was a farm wife and also worked at Jennie O Turkey plant, Fingerhut, and she was a master gardener. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and the St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf where she was active in the Ladies’ Circle.
She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, gardening and canning her produce. She loved spending time with her family and was proud of her family’s five generations. She was called from this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at her home near Hancock. She attained the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 26 days.
She is survived by her children: Dwight (Margaret) Lauinger of Hutchinson, Florence (Darold) Swank of Pierre, South Dakota, and Chris (Jill) Lauinger of Hancock: nine grandchildren: Marc (Kathy) Lauinger, Scott (Jamie) Lauinger, Donna Smith, Tim (Sara) Swank, Curt (Dannie) Lauinger, Jim (Ann) Lauinger, Janet Lauinger, Cathy (Carolyn) Lauinger and Tom Lauinger: 13 great grandchildren, Caroline, Emilia, and Natalie Lauinger, Andrew (Trice) Smith, Connor and Avery Swank, Isabella and Jacob Lauinger, and Emmanuel, Hope, and Dirk Dosch: and a great great granddaughter Addalyn Smith: three siblings Inez Steber of Pahrump, Nevada, Lillian Carter of Glenwood, and Jerry Voeller of Minneapolis: and several other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her Husband Leo on November 13, 2012, her parents Jack and Barbara, her son Robert on April 28, 2008, a grandson Brian Swank, and infant grandchild, and 10 siblings. Blessed be her memory.
