Gary Ray Stegeman

Gary Stegeman, age 76, of rural Glenwood, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. No formal service will be held.

Gary Ray Stegeman was born on January 14, 1947, at the Montevideo Hospital, the son of Harold and Elizabeth (Erickson) Stegeman. He grew up on the family farm in rural Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1965. Gary served in the National Guard and the United States Army Reserve for 15 years. After high school Gary was united in marriage to Sue Roth, this union was blessed with three daughters, Laurie, Michelle, and Melissa.

On September 1, 1984, Gary was united in marriage to Jeanette L. Johnson at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Montevideo. This union was blessed with over 38 years of marriage and a son, Cody, and a daughter Sara. Throughout his life Gary held numerous jobs and for the last 35 years he worked as the production floor supervisor at West Central Industries in Willmar.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved spending time at the lake, especially with his family. He was called from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at his home near Lake Scandi in Pope County, Minnesota. He attained the age of 76 years, 2 months and 27 days old.

Gary is survived by his wife Jeanette L. Stegeman of rural Glenwood; five children, Laurie (Todd) Johnson of Wayzata, Michelle (Aaron) Willander of Orono, Melissa (Jeff) Garner of Orono, Cody (Kirsten) Stegeman of Janesville, and Sara (Sean) DeSchepper of Willmar; eight grandchildren Katie, Maddy, Lilli, Willy, Sophia, Olivia, Roman, and Sienna; siblings Richard Stegeman, Karen Stegeman, and Kevin (Monica) Stegeman, all of Montevideo, and several other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Elizabeth Stegeman. Blessed be his memory.
