Geneva Mary Cameron, 92, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 31, 2022, at the Scandi Haven Village in Benson, MN. Visitation will be at the St Francis Catholic Church gathering space in Benson, Minnesota, on Friday, April 8 th from 5 pm - 7 p.m. There will be a rosary service starting at 5 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.. Burial to follow at St Malachy Catholic Cemetery in Clontarf, Minnesota. A meal to follow at the hall in Clontarf, Minnesota. Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements. A live stream of the funeral service will be broadcast on YouTube. Geneva Cameron was born February 16, 1930, to Alfred and Vina Ascheman of Clontarf, Minnesota. She was raised on farms in Clontarf and New York and attended country school before attending Benson High School. She graduated summa cum laude and Salutatorian of her class in 1948. She married her husband, Emmet Cameron of Clontarf, Minnesota in 1951. Following graduation Geneva was employed by FHA offices in Benson and Glenwood, MN and became a full time mother and homemaker when they started raising their five sons. When her youngest son started school she became employed at the Chevalier Insurance Agency in Benson and then at the Benson ASCS office. Geneva and Emmet wintered in Alamo Texas following retirement from farming in 1985.
Geneva enjoyed gardening her entire life and loved sharing the produce with family and friends. She was very active in the church, Coterie and the Altar and Rosary Society. While her boys were growing up Geneva was very active in the Clontarf Haymakers 4-H club. In her final years at Scandi Haven, she made many new friends and enjoyed puzzles, exercise class and games.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Vina, her husband Emmet in 2006 and brothers John, James, Donald and Thomas (Bro. Linus Ascheman, O.S.B.). Geneva is survived by her brothers Michael and Alfred Jr. and sisters Donna (Chevalier), Patricia (Staton) and Shirley (Schumacher), sons Daniel (Joan) Cameron of Mt Kisco NY, Michael (Shirley) Cameron of St Cloud MN, Terry (Mary) Cameron of Clontarf MN, Richard (Peggy) Cameron of Benson MN and Timothy (Nancy) Cameron of Dresser WI. 11 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Cameron) England, Daniel Cameron, Damion Chambers, Candace Chambers, Carisa (Cameron) Schultz, Michael Cameron Jr., Kathryn (Cameron) Carriere, Tina (Cameron) Igl, Shannon Cameron, Michelle (Cameron) Jobgen, Sarah Hengel, Nathan Cameron, Sarah (Cameron) Lihrman, 16 Great Grandchildren: Ellie, Ginny, Nathan, Tyler, Peyton, Presley, Mercedes, Beckett, Marlowe, Lilly, Reed, Alyssa, Kelcie, Samuel, Brayden, and Benjamin.
