Gerald Roger Rode

Gerald  “Jerry” Roger Rode was born on August 2, 1938, in Madison, Nebraska, the son of Otto and Alice (Krueger) Rode. On August 2, 1958, Jerry was united in marriage to Shirley Vik at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed south of Benson, Minnesota. This union was blessed with over 66 years of marriage.

Jerry’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and trapping. He enjoyed the harvest season and loved giving the great- grandkids rides in the combine. Jerry was called from this life on Sunday morning, September 1, 2024 at the CentraCare Benson Hospital. He attained the age of 86 years and 30 days.

Jerry is survived by his wife Shirley Rode of Benson; his children Cindy Walsh of Benson, Brad (Chauntel) Rode of Benson, Dawn (Mike) Grossman of Benson, and Aimee (Jeff) Dale of Olivia; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Mike (Sue) Rode of Andover and Patsy (Bill) Hetrick of Benson; nieces, nephews, and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Alice Rode, brother Clifford Rode, and son-in-law Tim Walsh.

A private family service will be held. Zniewski funeral home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
