Geraldine Swan, 74, of Benson, died on Sunday evening, December 6, 2020, at Scandi Haven Village, in Benson, Minnesota. A private family service will be held with burial in the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson.

Geraldine Leona Swan was born on February 24, 1946, in Ortonville, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Lorena Longhenry Hamann. She grew up in the Ortonville and Graceville Area.   On August 22, 1964,Gerry was united in marriage to Ron Swan in St. Paul, Minnesota. They were blessed with more than 51 years of marriage. They lived in the San Diego, CA area from 1964-1971 while Ron served in the United States Marine Corps. After he left the military, they moved back to Minnesota. From 1971-2015 they lived in rural Chippewa, Kandiyohi and Swift counties, Alexandria, eventually settling back in Kerkhoven. In 1979 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter. After Ron's passing in 2015, Gerry moved to Benson to be closer to her family.

She held many jobs including machine operator, working at a pet store, and daycare provider. Her favorite was babysitting her grandchildren from infant until they started school. They were the lights of her life. She was an avid animal lover, often taking in pets when others were no longer able to care for them. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, horseback riding, target shooting, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

She was called from this life on Sunday evening , December 6, 2020, at the Scandi Haven Village in Benson. She attained the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 12 days.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Angelyn (Eric) Tolifson of Benson; grandchildren, Ashten and Elsie Tolifson; brothers; Ronald Hamann of Isabella, MO, Donald (Mary) Hamann of Elizabeth, AR, and Dale Hamann of St. Paul, MN; sister, Donna (Earl) Longendyke of Butler, TN; brother-in-law, Michael Swan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Sister-in-law Sharon Swan of Blunt South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Ron in 2015, her parents Frank and Lorena Hamann, her parent-in-laws Gordon and Ada Swan, brother-in-law Leland Swan, and sisters-in-law Penny Nord, Gen Hamann, and Angelina Swan.
