Grace H. Christenson was born on February 18, 1929, on the family farm north of Montevideo, the daughter of Willie and Della (Christensen) Kittelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. She grew up on the farm in Mandt Township, and graduated from Milan High School in 1947. On March 31, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Marcel Christenson at Jevnaker Church in rural Montevideo.  Three children were born to this union…Scott Robert, Shelly Robin and Daniel Scott. Before marriage, she worked on the family farm until moving to live on the Christenson farm in rural Danvers, and was Bob’s right hand helper in farming operations. Robert and Grace were first members of Swenoda Lutheran Church until it dissolved in 1961. They then became members of West Bank Lutheran Church. Following the dissolution of West Bank church in 1995, Grace became a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church.

Grace was active in the Homemaker’s club, Mother’s Club, Ladies Aid, was a Sunday school teacher, and a 4-H advisor. She was very artistic and creative, writing alternate lyrics for songs for bridal showers and anniversaries. She also created readings for bridal showers and anniversaries. She had a beautiful garden, was an exceptional cook, and made the best scalloped potatoes, lemon meringue pie, and rolled out buttermilk donuts.  Grace was very caring; she helped clean homes, helped with child care, and even de-beaked turkeys! She was generous, forgiving, and had a big heart. She was a great letter writer, was tons of fun, and loved church and God. She always said “Love you today!” and her smile brightened the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her family was everything to her. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very deeply. She will be greatly missed.

She was called from this life on Tuesday afternoon, July 25, 2021, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile, MN. She attained 92 years, 5 months, and 9 days of age. Grace is survived by her children: Shelly Wahlin of McGregor, MN, Dan (Sally) Christenson of Dent, MN; grandchildren: Josh (Jen) Wahlin of McGregor, MN, Jesse (Alecia) Wahlin of Perham, MN, Paige (Carl) Battle of Hawley, MN, Allison Christenson of Omaha, Nebraska, Noah Christenson of Dent, Minnesota, and Ian Christenson of New York City, New York; great grandchildren: Taydem and Colby Wahlin, Josie and Tyler Wahlin, Phoebe, Loki and Lilou Battle. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Marcel Christenson; son: Scott Christenson; her parents: Willie and Della Kittelson; three sisters: Delores Peterson, Leona Skogrand, and twin sister Gloria Christenson; and one brother: Leland.
