Harlan John Busse

Harlan Busse, age 85, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Appleton Area Health-Hospital.  Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Pastor John Ramsbacher will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Shible Township.

Harlan John Busse born December 16, 1935, to John W. G. and Edna B. (Schmeichal) Busse.  He was baptized on January 19, 1936, and was confirmed on April 2, 1950, by Rev. Paul Gierke, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township.  Harlan served in the National Guard from 1954-1957 and the US Army from 1958-1960.

Harlan was married on October 28, 1961, to Betty Lou Wentler at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township.  One month prior to his death, they celebrated 60 years of marriage.  This union was blessed with 3 children Bradley, Gregory, and Dawn.

Harlan worked most of his life on the family farm north of Appleton.  He spent time raising milk cows and then beef cows.  After he retired from farming, he worked at Appleton Area Health helping out with maintenance.

Harlan passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Appleton Area Health-Hospital.  He attained 85 years, 11 months, and 7 days of age.  Harlan is survived by his wife Betty Busse of Appleton; his 3 children Bradley (Mary) Busse, St. Paul, Gregory (Trisha) Busse, Monticello, and Dawn (Joel) Current, Fargo, ND; his 7 grandchildren Rebecca Busse, Monticello, Lauren Busse, Minneapolis, Ashley Busse, Fridley, Deanna Busse, Minneapolis, Benjamin Busse, Monticello, Patrick Current, Madison, WI and Brendan Current, Fargo, ND; and by other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by parents John and Edna Busse; sisters: Loretta Hintz and Lois Koosmann, brother, David Busse; and a stillborn brother Busse.
