Inga Long, 93, of Benson, died on Friday evening, August 20, 2021, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Inga's family welcomes her friends to join them for a graveside service that will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Benson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and per Inga’s request memorials are preferred to the donor’s local hospice. Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Inga Marie Long was born on April 24, 1928 in Aurora, Minnesota, the daughter of Joe and Paula Hribar Zelezikar. She grew up in Aurora. She was baptized by Pastor John Longley in Aurora, Minnesota. She attended school in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. Inga earned her Bachelor’s degree in education and began her teaching career in Kimball, Minnesota.
On March 27, 1953 Inga was united in marriage to Merle Francis Long in Hopkins, Minnesota. This union was blessed with over 52 years of marriage. They made their home in Benson where Inga had a long career teaching in the Benson School system. Inga enjoyed quilting, home making, reading, and travelling. She was called from this life on Friday afternoon, August 20, 2021 at the Scandi Haven Village in Benson.
Inga is survived by her sons Rev. Richard (Lisa) Long of Yukon, Oklahoma and Dr. James Long of Andover: two grandchildren: Jackson Long and Lisa Marie Long: two sisters: Jan (Tom) Gibson of Chicago, Illinois, and Mae McGhee of Chandler, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Paula, her husband Merle on February 17, 2006, a daughter in law Kathy Long, her brothers, Hank, William, and Ed, and her sisters Olga, Celina, Jo, Ann and Coral. Blessed be her memory.
