James Edward Dishon

March 10, 1926 — June 15, 2021

James Edward Dishon, 95, of Appleton, died on Tuesday morning, June 15, 2021, at the Appleton Area Health Services Hospital. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Appleton City Cemetery.

James Edward Dishon was born on March 10, 1926, in Northwood, Iowa, the only child of Elmer L. and Edna T. (Olson) Dishon. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Remer, MN. He grew up and attended school in Glenville and Albert Lea, MN. James served his country in the U.S. Navy, serving during WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

On September 16, 1968, James was united in marriage to Carol Jean Linde in Stillwater, MN. They first made their home in Burnsville, MN. They also lived in Remer, MN and most recently in Appleton, MN. He was an active member of the Appleton V.F.W. His hobbies and interests included hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his wife Carol Dishon of Appleton; five children:, Jerrald (Kathy) Dishon of Florence, Alabama, James L. Dishon of Crosby, MN, Jillanne (Booker) Gilliam of Victorville, California, Jennifer Snyder of St. Cloud, MN and Cindy (Daniel) Niesen of Minneapolis, MN; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edna Dishon and his parents-in-law, William and Gertrude Linde and brother-in-law Arden (Bud) Linde. Blessed be his memory.
