James John Stutelberg

James John Stutelberg, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, Minnesota, followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be later in the St. Francis Catholic Church Cemetery.  Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Jim was born on April 6, 1928, in rural Minesota and later his family moved to Benson, Minnesota in the early 1940’s where he spent his growing up years living and farming near Benson. He worked at Agralite Cooperative in Benson for many years.

Jim was united in marriage to Clariene Ardelle Olson on November 29, 1949 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parsonage in Alexandria by Father Folsum. They shared in over 63 years of marriage before Clariene’s death in March of 2013. In the early 1950’s Jim joined the US Army and spent some of that time in Paris, France. Clariene was able to join him there for 6 months in 1952. During their marriage they enjoyed  camping, crafting, roller skating and later dancing. Jim enjoyed playing cards and having “coffee” with his “friends/cronies” and visits from family and friends. Old western movies on television were his favorite.

Jim is survived by his brother Tom Stutelberg of Minneapolis; his sister Sandra (Bruce) Bjerkelund of Hutchinson; sister-in-law Gail Stutelberg of Andover; brother-in-law Dennis (Judy) Olson of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Clariene Stutelberg, parents William and Mary Stutelberg; sisters, Rhoda Huston, and Rosemarie Wolf; brother William Stutelberg; sister-in-law; Sharon Stutelberg; and brothers-in-law Jim Huston, Gordon Wolff, Orris Olson, and Ruebin Olson.
