Jeanette Adell Alsaker, 95, of Benson, Minn., died Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be in Our Redeemer’s Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Benson Golf Club Foundation, American Cancer Society, and Our Redeemer's Women.
Jeanette Adell Alsaker was born April 29, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Neil and Ann (Ohman) Bradley. She was baptized December 14, 1924 at The Church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Chicago. When Jean was a child her family moved to Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. She was confirmed July 10, 1938 at North Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Jean grew up on a farm near Pelican Rapids where she graduated from High School. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota.
On June 22, 1948, Jean was united in marriage to Richard Donald Alsaker in Pelican Rapids by Pastor Estram. They were blessed with three children. Together, Richard and Jean shared in 59 years of marriage.
The family lived in Benson and Jean was an active member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, she held office in Sunday School and ELCA, served on various boards, and especially enjoyed being on the banner committee. She was an active member of circle all her married life. She enjoyed flower gardening, painting, camping, golfing, playing cards, especially her 29 years of summers at Lake Minnewaska, and entertaining with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Jean was called from this life on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Glenwood Retirement Village. She attained the age of 95 years, 5 months, and 14 days. She is survived by her children, Jay (Val) Alsaker of Benson and Vicky (Ed Nadler) Alsaker of Gig Harbor, WA; daughter-in-law, Lorrie Alsaker of Benson; three grandchildren: Bradley Christopher Alsaker, Allison Alsaker, and Lauren (Tyler) Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Mea Alsaker; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on November 6, 2007; son, Bradley Neal Alsaker; her parents Neil and Ann Bradley; and her sister Phyllis (Bradley) Ouellette.
