Joan Arlene Rheingans, age 84 of Marshall, formerly of Appleton, passed away May 28, 2024, at her beloved weekend home at the family farm eight miles northwest of Appleton. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11a.m., Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Appleton, Pastor Janice Eifealdt will officiate. The funeral will be followed by a reception at the VFW of Appleton. Internment will be in the Appleton Cemetery.
Joan Arlene Rheingans was born to Edwin and Leona (Hardwick) Rheingans in Shible Township, Swift County on December 7, 1939, the youngest of two daughters. She grew up on the family farm and attended Appleton Public Schools. After years working as a licensed insurance agent in Faribault, she founded an insurance company in 1980 that she continued to operate in Marshall until she passed away. She returned “home” to the farm most weekends and enjoyed yard work, attending church, and volunteering. She provided a loving home for the dogs that she retrieved from the animal shelter.
Joan is survived by her nephews Jim (Kathy) Wesloh of Columbia, MD and John (Bettina) Wesloh of Eldersburg, MD and cousins and other extended family and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Leona Rheingans, and sister and brother-in-law Marolyn and Robert Wesloh.
