John "Mike" Michael Lord

John Michael “Mike” Lord, 56, was found deceased on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at his residence in Benson, MN. He died from diabetes-related illness.

Mike was a graduate of Clearwater Central Catholic High School, in Clearwater, FL.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and his MBA from Cardinal Stritch University.  Mike worked as an Industrial Engineer for Ashley Furniture for 22 years and began working as an Industrial and Logistics Engineer for CNH Industries - Benson in 2021.

A lifelong model railroader, Mike was a member of the RiverRail model railroading club in Wisconsin.  He coordinated their annual gatherings for several years, drawing members from around the country.  Well known for his skills in detailing and weathering train cars and buildings, his articles had been published in major model railroading magazines, and his structures and landscaping appear on others’ railroad layouts across the States.

Mike also loved to read, especially books in the science fiction and urban fantasy genres.  He enjoyed a good meal, watching old movies, and listening to old radio shows and dramas.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Joan (Haag) Lord.  He is survived by his father, John H. Lord, of Ooltewah, TN, and his sister, Catherine Lord, of East Brainerd, TN.

Cremation was arranged and handled by the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
