Katrina (Katy) Henry was born on June 27, 1977, in Walnut Creek, California, to Gerald and Janet (Willgohs) Morell. She grew up in Hercules, California, and graduated from John Swett High School in Crocket, California. Katy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, and upon graduation worked at Redding Hospital.
Katy married Toby S. Henry in 2005 in Sacramento, California. They had a daughter Amaya-Jayd. They divorced in 2008. Katy worked in Public Health for Yuba County, California, a job she loved. In 2013, Katy moved to Appleton, Minnesota, because of her belief that it was a good place to raise her daughter and to be near her large extended family. She continued her work as a registered nurse at Chippewa County Public Health, Appleton Area Health Care, and Health Partners, up until her death.
Katy was a very kind, loving person. She loved being a mother to Amaya, her pride and joy, who is currently a student at the University of Minnesota School of Engineering. Katy was quick-witted and had a marvelous sense of humor. She was athletic and intelligent. She loved camping both in California and Minnesota. Upon arrival in Minnesota Katy grew to love vegetable gardening and rock collecting, and her dogs, Cheddar and Bacon. She developed many strong, long-lasting friendships both in Minnesota and California.
Katy passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 48, due to complications of diabetes. She is survived by her daughter Amaya-Jayd Henry of Minneapolis, sister Alexis Morell and nephew Matteo Reyes of Hutchinson, mother Jan Morell of Appleton, stepmother Tatiana Morell of Hercules, CA, sister-in-law Sharon Starks of Florida, great-great-aunts Arlene Briggs of Canby and Marion Willgohs of Bloomington, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Katy was preceded in death by her father Gerald Morell, maternal and paternal grandparents Hugo and Marie Willgohs, and James and Mildred Morell, aunt JoAnn Willgohs and uncle Ralph Willgohs, and former mother-in-law Jerrie Robinson.
Katy will be so greatly missed. May she be at peace
