Kay Koosman, age 79, of Appleton, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, in the St. Cloud Hospital. Marvin Koosman, age 79, of Appleton, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, in Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud. Visitation for Kay and Marv will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Interment will be in Appleton City Cemetery. Pastor Linda Wimmer will officiate.
Kay Marie (Peterson) Koosman was born December 19, 1943, in Graceville MN to parents Philip and Beverly (Christians) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton. Kay grew up on a farm near Clinton where she attended school, graduating from Clinton High School in 1961. Kay was united in marriage to Marvin C. Koosman on September 7, 1963, to which this union was blessed with three children: Todd, Kristen, and Tracy.
During her working years she worked for James Talcott Company, a finance company located in Minneapolis, worked as secretary at the Appleton Elementary School, and worked for the Regional Development Commission in Appleton for 34 years until her retirement in December of 2008.
Kay enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a whist club. She volunteered as a secretary for the Zion Lutheran Church Sunday School for 13 years and volunteered for the funeral committee at Zion Lutheran Church. She spent time golfing in the summertime and participated in the ladies day activities at the club house in Appleton. She also liked to travel with friends and family members. She really liked spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She also enjoyed attending sporting events the grandchildren participated in. They were the most important thing to her. Her face would light up whenever she would see them. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Marvin, which they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage; her children Todd (Julie) Koosman of Chaska, Kristen Kritzeck (Craig Brose) of Howard Lake, Tracy (Lisa) Koosman of Appleton; five grandchildren: Logan (Hatti) Kritzeck, Megan Koosman, Gavin Kritzeck, Andrew Koosman, and Braden Koosman; 2 step-grandchildren: Colby (PJ) Judovsky and Austin Judovsky; step-great-granddaughter, LaRayah Judovsky; siblings: Gloria (Paul) Schultz of Fridley, Cheryl (John) Bain of Spring Hill, FL, Greg (Shelley) Peterson of Starbuck, Pat (Brad) Duhr of Cass Lake, Peggy (Scott) Duske of Buffalo; brother-in-law, Lowell Zellman; sister-in-law Doris (Roger) Moen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her paternal and maternal grandparents; her sister, Diane Zellman; her step-grandson, Caleb Judovsky; her brothers-in-law: Dennis Koosman, Myron Koosman and his wife Elenore; and sister-in-law, Marlys Longnecker and her husband Arnie. Blessed be her memory.
