Kermit Ehrenberg, age 84, of Appleton, died Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in Rosewood Specialty Care in Montevideo. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2020, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton. Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery. Pastor John Ramsbacher will officiate.
Kermit William Ehrenberg was born October 26, 1935, in Shible Township, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Augusta Ehrenberg. He was baptized on November 14, 1935, and confirmed on April 2, 1950, both by Rev. Paul Gierke at Immanuel Shible Lutheran Church.
On September 6, 1957, Kermit was united in marriage to Marion Schroeder at Immanuel Shible Lutheran Church by Rev. Carl Wirth. The marriage was blessed with three children: Kevin, Ricky, and Steven.
Living on the family homestead, Kermit farmed until retiring in 1997. Family, farming, and church were the most important things in his life.
Kermit enjoyed collecting cast iron items such as tractor seats and drill ends. He also collected Indian artifacts and was a skilled machinist. He made three 1/4 scale tractors out of scrap metal: a 1937 Farmall F-20 Farmall, a 1938 John Deere G, and an 1934 Allis Chalmers.
Together, Kermit and Marion enjoyed attending threshing shows and displaying their collection. Kermit also created a museum on the farm and enjoyed visitors to see his unique collection.
During his lifetime he served on a number of various boards including the Holloway Market, and being a Trustee and Elder at Immanuel Shible Lutheran Church.
He and Marion moved into Appleton in 2013.
Kermit attained the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 4 days.
Kermit is survived by his wife, Marion of Appleton; sons: Rick Ehrenberg of Appleton and Steve (Leslie) Ehrenberg of Appleton; grandchildren: Joel Ehrenberg, Justin (Michelle) Ehrenberg of Clarkfield, Tim (April) Ehrenberg of Appleton, David Ehrenberg of Morris, and Melissa Ehrenberg of Morris; seven great-grandchildren: Zane, Rhett, Alayna, Marion, Damon (financé Katelynn), Adam, and Erik; daughter-in-law Lorrie Ehrenberg of Madison; sister-in-law Evy Ehrenberg of Appleton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Augusta Ehrenberg; his son Kevin Ehrenberg; grandchildren Andy and Sara Ehrenberg; brothers and sisters: Gerhard, Albert, Mildred, Ethel Roy, Ronald, Donald, and Carl; and his parents-in-law, Alfred and Bertha Schroeder.
