Kevin Wayne “Casey” Clark was born September 27, 1954 at Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson MN, to Donald Wesley and Hazel Laura (Rooney) Clark. He made his first Communion and was confirmed in the Catholic Faith at Sacred Heart Church, in Murdock, MN. Casey grew up on the rural family farm, located in Kerkhoven Township. He graduated in 1972 from Kerkhoven High School. While active in the local 4-H club and FFA chapter, he was quite involved in livestock judging. His specialties were horse and cattle judging. Throughout his judging career, he earned many awards at the local, regional and state levels.
Casey continued his education at Willmar Community College where he earned an Associates Degree in Science. Furthering his education, he graduated in 1977 from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science. While attending the University of Minnesota, Casey was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Animal Science Club, and Livestock Judging Focus Group.
After graduation, he accepted employment with the Upjohn Pharmaceuticals-Veterinarian Division, located near Iowa City, Iowa. In the mid-1980’s, he took a position in the agricultural realty industry before starting his own environmental land applications business. Later on, he started an independent farming operation which included cattle and horses in Northeast Iowa. While operating Clark Farms, he founded Clark Angus Genetics and CNN Quarter Horses.
As his love for angus cattle and quarter horses grew, he pursued ranching opportunities in Texas. In 2013, he purchased a picturesque ranch in rural Ben Wheeler, Texas. He chose to name his property White Pines Farms, a title which truly reflected the beauty of the wooden-laden terrain.
Casey was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and American Quarter Horse Association. He attended many stock shows in Denver, Colorado. He participated in multiple cattle disbursement sales throughout the south and midwest. He even explored land and cattle opportunities in Costa Rica.
Casey was a member of the St Edward Catholic Church in Athens, Texas, serving as a faithful Saturday evening mass usher on a regular basis.
He loved the ranching community in rural Texas. He showed this heart-felt connection by making frequent visits to near-by ranchers and neighbors to ensure their well-being and welfare of animals. Another way Casey gave back to his community was to provide annual transportation and tickets for local families and friends to attend the RFD Rodeo at the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Casey would make his way back to Minnesota during holiday seasons, or during the late summertime to take in the Minnesota State Fair. Casey would find time to catch up with family and friends to share stories, laughs, and entertaining times. On his return trips to Texas, he would stop and visit close friends located in Iowa.
Casey passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his ranch in rural Ben Wheeler, Texas at the age of 66 years. He is survived by his mother Hazel Clark of Willmar, Mn.
His siblings: Keith (Bit) Clark of Olathe, KS, Kim Clark of Murdock, Kaye (Thomas) Dooley of Spicer, Kyle (Jackie) Clark of Murdock, Kris (friend, Trena Eller) Clark of Glenwood, Kirsten (Kyle) Kopacek of Lake Park. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Wesley Clark.
Casey’s family greatly acknowledges your kind expressions of sympathy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the KMS FFA Chapter, 302 N. 15th St., Kerkhoven, MN 56252
