Lavonne M. (Mikkelson) Schlieman, age 84, of Morris died Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Visitation will continue Monday, August 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Lavonne Mae (Mikkelson) Schlieman, 84, was born September 5, 1938, in Madison, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Lund) Mikkelson. She was baptized on September 21, 1938, at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church in rural Louisburg by Pastor L. O. Onerheim. On October 12, 1952, she was confirmed by Pastor H. B. Raun at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church.

Lavonne attended school in Appleton, Minnesota, graduating from Appleton High School in 1956. She was then employed by Hennepin County Social Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Lavonne married Harold Schlieman on June 15, 1957. Their marriage took place in the church she grew up in, Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor H. B. Raun. To this union four children were born: Julie, Dale, Debra, and Duane.

As the children were growing up, Lavonne was in Tupperware Sales with her two daughters helping pack orders. She won a trip to Florida among other prizes for her outstanding sales.

When the children were grown, Lavonne worked for Swift County Youth Programs as a Parent Mentor and was a Guardian-ad-Litem for the 8th Judicial District. Lavonne and Harold moved from rural Holloway to Morris in 2006.

Lavonne kept busy with many hobbies and interests. She was a member of the Dorcas Guild at Trinity Fairfield Lutheran Church in Fairfield Township and a member of Elizabeth Circle at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. She was also a member of the Needle and Thread Quilters in Appleton. She loved to quilt, bake, and cook, was a sports fan, and played softball. Lavonne loved to travel, visiting friends and relatives. She also loved spending time with her church groups and singing in the church choir.

Lavonne passed away late Tuesday evening, August 15, 2023, at West Wind Village in Morris, MN.

Lavonne is survived by her husband Harold of Morris, MN, her children, and grandchildren: Julie (Bruce) Goracke of Rochester, MN, Nicholas (Tomoko) Goracke, Jinto, Minto, and Lynne of Rochester, MN, and Alissa (Michael) Caron, Bryce and Finn of Rochester, MN; Dale (Rosemary) Schlieman of Holloway, MN, Rachel (Ryan) Thompson of Bismarck, ND, Mariah (Lucas) Mortenson, Lucille, Hank, and Bodie of Madison, MN, and Laura Schlieman of Duluth, MN; Debra (Paul) Quandt of Faribault, MN, Zachary (Maggie Munson) Quandt of Hopkins, MN, and Patrick (Lindsey Nymann) Quandt, Amelia, Avery, Keaton, and Kellen of Faribault, MN; and Duane (Maria) Schlieman of Cary, NC, Sarah (Sawyer) Lubke, Avery and Calvin of Linden Hills, MN, Molly (Bailey) Mueller and Elsie of Suamico, WI, and Matt Schlieman of Bloomington, MN. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Valora (Schlieman) Greseth of Bloomington, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Marie and siblings: Hazel, Grant, Earl, and Murlyn. Blessed be her memory.
