Lois Johanna nee Westhausen Rudnick was born April 23, 1942.  She was baptized May 10, 1942 and confirmed March 25, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township.  She was a member at Shible for most of her life until she joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton.  She went to parochial country school until 8 th grade and then attended and graduated Appleton High School.  She attended one year at Concordia College in St. Paul and worked for a time in the Cities.  She found her way back to Appleton and married Michael Rudnick on December 18, 1965.  Early on, Lois worked for Fingerhut in Benson but most of her working years were as a cook.  She was employed by several through the years including: Claude and Peggy Randall, Twitchel’s Bakery, Elroy’s Place and Mickey’s Dinner in St. Paul.  Lois managed the Swift County 4-H food stand at the Swift County Fair for many years…which was one of her favorite jobs!

Lois regularly attended church and was an active member of the LWML.  She taught Sunday School and VBS for decades, especially enjoying the craft time for VBS.  She loved music and was a member of both the Shible and Trinity Church Choirs and the bell choir at Shible.

Lois was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Appleton.  She held several offices, was president several years, and attended many State and National Conventions.  She volunteered countless hours to her church and community, always willing to help others.  She enjoyed collecting spoons and coins, crafting, working on crossword puzzles and playing Bingo.

Love for family came only after her love for God and she cherished family get-togethers.  She could always be counted on to bring much of the food and after eating, compete in family games.  She adored watching her family grow and cherished each new member.

Lois passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, Appleton Area Health Services- Care Center.  She attained 78 years and 7 months of age.  Lois is survived by her children: Shari (Scot) Van Briesen of Appleton, Kevin (Marcy) Rudnick of Appleton, David (Tanya) Rudnick of Benson; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Judith (Courtney) Berthiaume of Lakewood, WA; brother, Eldon (Renee) Westhausen of Appleton; sister-in-law, Alice Hess of Holloway; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
