Lucille Agnes Reuss

December 3, 1918 — May 31, 2020

Lucille Agnes (Schliep) Reuss, age 101, of Benson, MN passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 in her home. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Holloway.

Lucille Agnes (Schliep) Reuss was born December 3, 1918, in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Augusta (Thielke) Schliep. She was baptized April 6, 1919 by Rev. Pasche and confirmed May 22, 1932 by Rev. Ristow at Immanuel Church in Horton Township. Lucille attended District 20 in Horton Township and graduated 8th grade from District 43 in Fairfield Township on June 27, 1932 and went to Holloway High School in the fall.

On March 15, 1938, Lucille was united in marriage to Lester P. Reuss by Pastor Langhans in Holloway. They made their home in Holloway in the early years and lived in Washington State where Lester worked in the shipyard for approximately one and a half years until he was called into military service. They decided Lucille should move back home to be by family while he was gone. They resided in Danvers for many years. Lucille was a stay-at-home mother until the kids were all in school and then she worked night shift during the summer at Fingerhut for two years and later worked as a para-professional for Benson Public Schools for nine years. She was loved by all her students. Lucille moved to Benson in 2005 and enjoyed living at Parkview Manor for 15 years.

Lucille belonged to Mother’s Club in Danvers, Danvers Sr. Citizens, and Bible Study at St. Mark’s. Lester and Lucille were the driving force organizing the Sr. Citizen’s Club. Lucille loved flowers, birds and gardening. She enjoyed embroidery and cross-stitch. She was very proud of her cross-stitched projects, done so neatly that at times you wouldn’t know the front from the back.

Lucille loved her family more than life itself. She was proud of them all and cherished all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that came from having 13 children.

Lucille passed away in her home on Sunday, May 31, 2020. She attained the age of 101 years, 5 months and 28 days. She is survived by her children: Robert Reuss of Benson, Shirley (Robert) Foster of Appleton, Sharon Montoya of Benson, Karen (David) Hester of Carrollton, TX, Bonnie (Albert) Pina of Carrollton, TX, JoAnn Isais of St. Paul, Donald Reuss of Ottertail, and Linda (Ken) Wall of Benson; daughter-in-law, Lois Reuss; sisters Helen Klucas and Gladys (Mick) Ascheman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Lucille also has many bonus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester on November 2, 1999; children: Lois, Jean, Carol, and Gerald Reuss, and Janice and husband, Vernon Poverud; her parents; many siblings, other relatives and friends.
