Lynn G. Knutson, 71, of Swift Falls, Minnesota, passed away on Friday morning, January 28, 2022, at his home in Camp Lake Township. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, and will continue Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 1 pm to 2 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Lynn Gerald Knutson was born on March 31, 1950, the son of Gerald Willard and Gloria Nelson Knutson. He was baptized on April 23, 1950, at St. Pauli’s Lutheran Church and he was confirmed at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Benson, Minnesota area and attended Benson Schools graduating in 1968. He then attended Alexandria Technical college.
On September 3, 1977, he was united in marriage to Lorie Simmonds at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff, Minnesota. This union was blessed with over 44 years of marriage. He owned Knutson Construction where they constructed pole sheds, worked for Annson Enterprises driving truck for his uncle Bob, worked at Crop-Mate Fertilizer and at Tyler/Case IH where he retired from in 2012.
He was a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, following NASCAR, time spent in his shop with friends, fish fry’s, The Boars Nest, four wheeling and snowmobiling in his earlier years, Fridays at Brinks, traveling and bus trips, and walking around his property and enjoying the views and wildlife. He loved spending time with his affectionate dogs and with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his whole world, and he was so proud of all of them. He was called from this life on Friday morning, January 28, at his home in Camp Lake Township. He attained the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 28 days.
He is survived by his wife, Lorie; his mother Gloria of Benson; two daughters, Casey (Nick) Olson of Benson and Nicole (Ryan) Lesteberg of Kerkhoven; six grandchildren Andrew, Leah, and Troy Olson, and Brock and Gabe Lesteberg, and Paytyn Lesteberg and great grandchild Brooks Jackson; his faithful companion his dog Teal; siblings, Becky (Jim) Gullickson of Starbuck, Randy (Joanne) Knutson, of Benson, Shellie (Lynn) Larson of DeGraff; his uncle Ron (Geri) Knutson, who was like a brother; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald in 2004, his brother Danny in 2014, an infant sister Marcia, his goddaughter and niece, Shawna Larson in 2020, his grandparents, his uncle Bob who was like a brother in 2021, several other aunts and uncles, his in-laws Robert (Hazel) Simmonds, sister-in-law Carol (John) Bodin, brother-in-law Tom Taylor. Blessed be his memory.
