Margaret Mary Ascheman, 86, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 20, 2022, at the Scandi Haven Village in Benson, MN. Visitation will be at the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Danvers, Minnesota, on Wednesday, March 23, from 4 pm - 7 pm, and continue from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Thursday, March 24th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial to follow at Church of the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Danvers, Minnesota. A meal to follow at McKinney’s, 300 14th Street South in Benson, Minnesota. Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements. A live stream of the funeral service will be broadcast on facebook, visit the Zniewski Funeral Home's facebook page just prior to 10 am to join the live stream.
Margo Ascheman was born December 2, 1935, to John and Susie McGeary of Danvers, Minnesota. She was raised on their farm in Danvers and attended country school before attending Benson High School. She married her husband, Melvin Ascheman of Holloway, Minnesota, and they were blessed with 61 years of marriage and four children. In 1957 they moved to Minneapolis where they began their family. In 1966 they moved back to Swift County and began their life-long dream of farming. They remained on their farm until 2005 when they moved to Benson to retire.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Susie and her husband Mel in 2019. Margo is survived by her son Michael (Donna) Ascheman of Kensington MN, daughters Marcia (Greg) Barnum of Scottsdale AZ, Kathryn (James) Holleman of Benson MN, and son Patrick (Donita) Ascheman of Holloway MN. Eleven grandchildren, Laura Ascheman, Missy (Brent) Koehl, Nick (Kayla) Ascheman, Mitch Ascheman, Zach (Sarah) Barnum, Shelby (Taylor) Freetly, Molly (John) Kline, Tony (Maggie) Holleman, Grant Ascheman, Sophie (Kaleb) Koehl, Karly Ascheman, 7 Great Grandchildren, Kinley, Cullen, Aiden, Austin, Maizee, Liam, Emmie; brothers Jim McGeary and Greg McGeary and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Blessed be her memory.
