Marie Loretta Amundson

Marie Loretta Amundson, 88, of Benson, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 22, 2020, under hospice care at her home in Benson. A private family graveside service was held at the Benson City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. Marie Loretta Amundson was born September 15, 1932, to Henry and Theresa (Schramel) Weimerskirch, and was the 6 ^th of 10 living children. She grew up on a farm one mile north of Belgrade, where she attended country school through 8 ^th grade. On January 30, 1954, Marie was united in marriage to Kenneth Wayne Amundson. This union was blessed with over 56 years together and six children: Nancy, Deanna, Linda, Lauri, Steven, and Daniel. The couple raised their family in Benson, where they owned and operated an auto repair business. Marie did the bookkeeping for the family business and also worked outside the home. In her later years, Marie was a home health aide, which she really enjoyed.

Marie passed away December 22, 2020.  She attained 88 years, 3 months, and 7 days of age. A private family burial is planned. Marie is survived by her children: Nancy (John Fitzpatrick) Perrizo of Hattiesburg, MS, Deanna (David) Cooley of Glenwood, Linda (Darcy) Amundson of Kerkhoven, Lauri (David) Mathiowetz of Lester Prairie, Steven (Molly) Amundson of Scottsdale, AZ, and Daniel (Gail) Amundson of Bloomington; her 10 grandchildren: Karla (CJ Stavinoha) Perrizo, Ashli (Brock) Hurston, John (Madeline) Fitzpatrick, Bria Amundson, Michael (Devon) Amundson, Darin (Gretchen) Amundson, Adam (Staci) Amundson, Teresa (Laughton) Crout, Kelsey Amundson, and Hannah Amundson; her 13 great-grandchildren: Patrick Stavinoha, Jack Stavinoha, Sophie Stavinoha, Kallyn Amundson, Kaden Amundson, Spenser Amundson, Ajay Amundson, William Amundson, Theodore Amundson, Sophie Amundson, Wilhelmina Crout, Evangeline Crout, and Gabriel Crout; her sister, Gloria Terhaar; her brother, Arnold (Ann) Weimerskirch; sister-in-law, Nancy Weimerskirch; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband K. Wayne Amundson in 2010; her parents, Henry and Theresa Weimerskirch; son-in-law, Patrick Perrizo; and her siblings: Rosalie Olson, Lois Weisser, Arlene Miller, Donald Weimerskirch, Marcella Braden, Joseph Weimerskirch, and Dennis Weimerskirch.

Marie will always be remembered for her loving support to her children, her love of flowers and gardening, her great cooking skills…she could make a meal on a dime!  She was resourceful, strong, and resilient.  Blessed be her memory.
