Mary Lucking, 102, Benson, Minn., died Friday, November 8, 2019, at Homestead Place North in Benson, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30, Friday, November 15, 2019, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Visitation will continue from 10–11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Malachy’s Catholic Cemetery in Clontarf.
Mary Teresa Lucking was born on the farm in Clontarf Township, Swift, County, Minnesota, the daughter of Leonedous T. and Ellen V. (McGraw) Goulet. She was baptized on October 28, 1917 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf by Father Henry. She grew up in Clontarf and attended country school through the eighth grade then graduated from Benson Senior High School. She worked in Washington D.C., hand painting photographs and at the Benson Creamery.
On June 4, 1943, Mary was united in marriage to Benjamin James Lucking at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church by Father Richard King. Together they were able to share in over 50 years of marriage. This union was blessed with five children, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. After raising her five children, she worked part time at Breen’s Pharmacy and at Thompson’s Dress Apparel.
Mary belonged to the St. Francis Catholic Church Family Groups and served as a sacristan at St. Francis Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and playing bridge. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was called from this life on Friday morning, November 8, 2019, at Homestead Place North in Benson. She attained the age of 102 years and 24 days.
She is survived by her children, Chauntel Lund of Benson, Brent (Carol) Lucking of Minnetonka, Marie Johnne (Harlan) Danner of Anoka, Simone Oliver and Jay Gallagher of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Chrysees (Philip) Forbord of Benson; ten grandchildren Terri Lund, Quentin Lucking, Jason Lucking, Ryan Danner, Brett Danner, Callie Danner, Adam Danner, Chad Oliver, Jens Forbord, and Addie Forbord; thirteen great grandchildren, Morgan Lucking, Anna Lucking, Michael Cossette, Blake Lucking, Nicholas Lucking, Keagan Lucking, Landon Danner, Olivia Danner, Emaliah Danner, Brodey Danner, Kaleb Danner, Gavin Brown, and Norah Brown; and several other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband James on October 14, 1993, two sisters, Bernice Nagel and Emily Kelly, one brother, Ernest Goulet, and her parents Leonedous and Ellen Goulet.
