Michaela Renae Sexton

Michaela Renae Sexton, 25, Benson, Minn., died Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud, Minn. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will continue from 10–11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.

Michaela Renae Sexton was born on August 26, 1994, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN.  She was born to her mother, Debbie M. Slaughter and her father, Shane A. Sexton.

Michaela lived most of her life in Benson, MN after she returned from Oregon when she was 2.  She grew up in Benson, atending public school and graduating in 2012.  She worked a variety of jobs, with her last job being the most fulfilling.  She worked at the Heartland Girls Ranch in Benson as a Youth Counselor.

Michaela is survived by her loving mother, Debbie Slaughter, Benson, her father, Shane Sexton, Lake Lillian, and her two adoring siblings, Lilly Slaughter and Charlie Gocha of Benson.

She is also survived by her girlfriend, Kamri Kalthoff of Benson; Grandmother, Marcia Slaughter of Benson and by many friends and family who will miss her for the entirety of their lives.

Michaela had a short life but it was a life of wondering, “What’s next?”  She was ready for the next adventure around the next corner and the next laugh and the next new friend.  She never met a stranger, she always met a friend. That was part of who she was.  She is now sharing that adventure with those who proceeded her in death: Grandpa Palmer LeRoy Slaughter, Benson; Cousins Maisey Mae Callahan, Emma Marjorie Hanson, Kayla Wrobleski, Benson.
