Michael Scheffler

Michael "Mike" Scheffler died Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Benson, MN at the age of 75.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson with Fr. Brian Mandel as the Celebrant.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for dementia research.

Michael “Mike” Raymond Scheffler was born in Benson, Minnesota, on July 22, 1950, the son of Raymond and Irene (Simon) Scheffler. Mike grew up and attended school in Benson, graduating from Benson High School with the Class of 1968. He went on to further his education at Willmar Vocational – Technical College, receiving an Associate of Arts Degree.

On October 8, 1977, Mike married Marjorie Ann Totushek in Benson, and raised three daughters: Julie, Michele, and Rachel. He was a long-time mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Benson, retiring in 2009 after 34 years. He gave 21 years of service as a volunteer firefighter for the Benson Fire Department. Mike also proudly served his country in the U. S. Army.

Mike enjoyed golfing, spending time at their family cabin on Lake Minnewaska, and trips to Arizona.

Mike died Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Benson, Minnesota, at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Scheffler of Benson; daughters: Julie (Matt) Holzwarth, Blake and Reese Holzwarth of Jordan, MN, Michele Scheffler (Wade Odland), Isaiah Miller, Cooper and August Odland of Spicer, MN, and Rachel (Brady) Olson, Adley and Ana Olson of Benson; mother Irene Scheffler of Benson; siblings: Susan Crepeau of Benson, Joan Scheffler of Arlington, TX, Monica (Scott) Swartz of Willmar, MN, and Jill (Byron) Payne of Wayzata, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Scheffler and brother-in-law Thomas Crepeau.
