Mildred Agnes Weber was born September 19, 1931, to John and Lena (Buchmann) Weber on the family farm in Arena Township, south of Madison, Minnesota. She was the third born of a family of seven, being the only girl. She was baptized at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Madison. Millie attended Country School through the Eighth Grade and then attended Madison High School where she graduated, Class of 1950.
She met her husband, Richard Evans, at the Madison Bowling Alley. They were united in marriage on August 4, 1956, at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Rectory. The couple lived on a farm east of Appleton for most of their married life. They had three children: Nancy, Mary, and Scott.
Millie was a homemaker, but as her children went off to school she worked at various places, including JC Penny, B&H Electronics, and Innovex. During her retirement she worked at Prairie Playhouse Childcare, where she was known as “Grandma Millie” by so many children in the Appleton area. She would “light up” whenever kids would recognize her in the community and come and talk to her.
Millie liked to play bridge, go bowling, and play golf. She enjoyed watching her MN granddaughters play sports. She and Richard would travel to California to see Mary and her family as much as possible, making many memories along the way. She would spend time on the phone talking with her dear friend JoAnn while they watched their respective TV’s, enjoying sports together. She and JoAnn also attended many LqPV basketball games together.
She loved making family dinners that included a lot of mashed potatoes. Her grandsons would load their plates! In her younger years, Millie was a member of the Ridgerunner’s Snowmobile Club, she volunteered at the Swift County Fair writing premium checks, and also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Millie died Friday, February 23, 2024, at Scandi Haven Memory Care in Benson. She attained 92 years, 5 months, and 4 days of age. Millie is survived by her daughters: Nancy (Bob) Kulseth of Spicer and Mary (Brad) Voorhees of Appleton; daughter-in-law, Dodi Evans of Willmar; six grandchildren: Becky (Jesse) Knudsen, Sarah (Clint Mrozinski) Kulseth, Bridgett (Darin) Fishman, Bernadett (Jr) Izaguirre, Tyler Evans and Logan Evans; five great-grandchildren: Ethan and Emma Knudsen, Dylan Fishman, Benjamin and Bella Izaguirre; brother; Harvey Weber of Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lena Weber; her husband, Richard in 2005; her son, Scott in 2018; and her brothers: Lester, Roger, Curtis, Doug, and Arnie; and other relatives.
