Myrtle Rosella Schreck

Myrtle Rose (Rodengen) Schreck, age 98, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Appleton Care Center in Appleton, Minnesota. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am at Zniewski Funeral Home, Vaala Chapel in Appleton, Minnesota. Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery. Memorial donations are preferred to Hospice.

Myrtle Rosella (Rodengen) Schreck was born July 23, 1926, the daughter of Oscar and Rose Rodengen. She was raised near Artichoke Lake in Swift County, Minnesota, along with her nine siblings.

September 7, 1947, Myrtle married Ramon Schreck at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Shible Township area for about ten years. To this union two sons were born eleven months apart, Dennis and Darrell. Ramon passed away October 31, 2000, at the age of 74. Myrtle and Ramon shared 53 years of marriage.

Myrtle continued to live in her own home until 2021, when she moved to the Appleton Care Center.  She passed away there on Wednesday evening, September 11, 2024 at the age of 98 years.

Myrtle is survived by her sons Dennis (Kathy) Schreck and Darrell Schreck; three grandchildren: Tara (John) Jacobson, Rebecca (Joe) Jensen, and Brian (Brianna) Schreck; five great-granddaughters: Alysa Jacobson, Lola Jensen, Bristol, Beau, and Blair Schreck; her sister Verna Norby, sister-in-law Wilma Schreck, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Rose Rodengen, and eight siblings.
