Richard Alan “Dick” Fox passed away May 11, 2024, at the age of 75, at the St. Cloud Veterans Nursing Home in St. Cloud, Minnesota. His battle with cancer and other serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, he came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Richard was born January 24, 1949 to Lula (Chevalier) and John Fox. He graduated from Benson High School in 1967 and remained in Minnesota until his enlistment into the armed forces. Richard was a proud family man and Veteran of the United States Air Force for which he served as an Aerospace Propulsion Engineer. Richard married Cathy Ann Geiver on August 9, 1980, while stationed at Elsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. They were able to share in nineteen years of marriage. Richard and his family were later stationed in Spokane, Washington, where Richard and Cathy chose to be foster parents until Richard retired in 1990. After his retirement from the Air Force, Richard and his family moved to Minnesota, where he worked for Crop Mate Fertilizer and later worked at Case IH in Benson for twenty years before retiring. Richard had a passion for demolition derbies, fishing, and snacking whenever possible. He was honored to be considered a Papa or Grandpa to several young adults and children whom he loved to do activities with, including daily breakfast. Being involved with the children and watching them grow up and consider him Grandpa became his biggest source of pride and joy in life. Richard is survived by his daughter Dawn Lynn Fox, granddaughter AnaKayah Cathy Lang, sister-in-law Donna Fox, nephews: Bill Fox, Steve Evenson, and Alan Fox, niece Sherry Fox, great-nephews, great-nieces, maternal aunt Judy (Bill) Aschenbach, sister-in-law Christy Clanton, many cousins, other family members, and many close friends whom Richard considered family and whom he loved spending time with as much as possible. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Cathy Fox, his son Cameron Fox, his mother Lula (Chevalier) Fox, his father John Fox, his brother Francis Fox, his grandparents, his father and mother-in-law Billie and Marilyn Geiver, his sister-in-law Candy Geiver, brother-in-law Terry Geiver, multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, and friends. Richard will be buried in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota, alongside his wife and son.
