Robert “Bob” L. Commerford, 73, of Benson, MN, died on Friday afternoon, April 15, 2022, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2022, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, MN. Interment will be in the St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in DeGraff, MN. Zniewski Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Robert Lawrence Commerford was born on December 06, 1948, in Swift County the son of Warren “Bub” and Marcella (Payne) Commerford. He was baptized on December 19, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock and was confirmed on July 6, 1960, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff. He grew up in Grace Township, Chippewa County, attended country school in Chippewa County at District #43, and later graduated from Murdock High School. He attended the Minnesota school of Business for two years. On September 26, 1970, Bob was united in marriage to Anne Kent.
Bob worked for Johnson Brothers Construction for a short time and then farmed until he was no longer able due to Parkinson’s Disease. On August 5, 1989, Bob was united in marriage to Linda (Lozenski) Thompson at the Benson Golf Course. They lived on the farm near Danvers. He served as the treasurer of the Apache Wells RV Resort in Mesa, Arizona and was a board member of West-Con. He enjoyed farming, playing cards, dancing, trips to the casino, and listening to country music. He was called from this life on Friday afternoon, April 15, 2022, at Scandi Haven Village surrounded by his family in Benson. He attained the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 9 days.
Bob is survived by his children, Amy (Bill) Sirek of Elko, Mn, Shelly (Denny) Spielmann of Redwood Falls, MN, James Thompson of Marshall, MN, and Nathan (Melissa) Thompson of Benson; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, and Bradan Sirek, Chastity Spielmann, Michael (Theresa) Spielmann, Brianna (Trevor) Goblirsch, Emmaly Spielmann, Leah, Sam, and Mollie Thompson; 7 great grandchildren, Ethan and Nora Zwilling, Fletcher Leach, Thompson, Hendrix, and Penelope Goblirsch, and Isla Spielmann; his siblings, Richard (Jackie) Commerford of Benson, Beverly Nagler of Benson, and Marjorie (Jerry) Olson of Danvers; sister-in-law Marie Commerford of Danvers; and nieces, nephews, and several other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Linda on March 31, 2008, his parents, Warren and Marcella, a brother Norman Commerford, brother-in-law Donald Nagler, nephews Michael Commerford, Mark Welling, and Scott Smith, a niece Vicki Bishop, and a great niece Courtney Staton.
