Robert Allen Overlie

Robert “Bob” Allen Overlie was born June 5, 1948 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Kermit Richard and Eleanor (Reimer) Overlie. He was baptized at Lake Hazel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Bob attended Benson Public Schools and worked at C.R. Koehl’s Farm.

On July 18, 1970, Bob was united in marriage to Diane Elaine Brott at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with more than 49 years of marriage and five children. Bob lived and worked on the family farm 10 miles north of Benson for most of his life. Farming was his passion and he enjoyed everything to do with the farm, especially planting and harvesting the crops and the birth of new livestock. Bob loved spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren.

Bob passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He attained the age of 71 years, 6 months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, Diane Overlie of Benson; children: Eric (Angie) Overlie of Benson, Stephane (Jim) Buchwitz of Roseau, Heather Overlie of Benson, Benjamin (Stefanie) Overlie of Benson, and Mark (Onna) Overlie of Benson; 19 grandchildren: Bridget (Mitch) Wellnitz, Matthew (Stefani Griffith) Wieber, Anne (Jon Pearson) Overlie, Madisen (Shane Flower) Wieber, Maranda (Aaron Zosel) Wieber, Chloe Overlie, Dallas, Colby and Lincoln Buchwitz, Larissa, Kermit and Phoebe Overlie, Gabriel Overlie, and baby Overlie expected in May 2020; great-grandsons: Kade Pearson and Lane Wieber who is expected in February 2020; siblings: Richard (Linda) Overlie of Brooklyn Park, Ronald (Judy) Overlie of Benson, and Roger Overlie of Faribault. He was preceded in death by his parents. Blessed be his memory.
