Roman Fidler, age 68, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Appleton Area Health. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at St. John's Catholic Church in Appleton. Fr. Brian Mandel will officiate. Interment will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
Roman Andrew Fidler was born November 17, 1955, the son of Roman Andrew Fidler and Irene Beens Fidler, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan, Minnesota.
Roman attended grade school at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School through eighth grade. He then attended Wabasso High School, graduating in 1973. Roman continued his education at Canby Vocational School.
Roman moved to Appleton in 1975 and married Janelle Renae Holland in Appleton on June 23, 1979. Together they raised two children: Blake and Brandon.
Roman lived and worked in the Appleton area. He worked at Ansel Doll Accounting, Swift County HRA, and as the Clerk/Treasurer for the City of Appleton since 1982. He was a member of the Appleton Fire Department for 36 years, was on the Hospital Foundation Board, was a Church Trustee, and a member of the Pioneerland Library Board.
Roman had many interests. He enjoyed collecting, projects, building, being outdoors, walking, farming, and spending time at the lake with family.
Roman is survived by his wife Janelle Renae Fidler; children: Blake (Addie) Fidler of Fargo, ND, and Brandon (Sara) Fidler of Monticello, MN; three grandchildren: Kendall and Madelyn Fidler and Steven Fidler; siblings: Diane (Dan) Clarke of Willmar, MN, Judy Zachow of Redwood Falls, MN, and Robert (Gloria) Fidler of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roman was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Irene Fidler; his parents-in-law, Ervin and Pearl Holland; and his brother Raymond Fidler.
