Sharon Jeanine Avelsgard

Sharon Avelsgard, age 84, of Appleton, passed away Monday evening, December 26, 2022, in her home. Visitation will be Noon-1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Pastor John Ramsbacher will officiate.  Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.

Sharon Jeanine Avelsgard was born October 2, 1938, in Appleton, Minnesota, the daughter of Marvin and Verna (Strand) Schreck. She was baptized October 15, 1938, by Rev. Faedtke and was confirmed June 1, 1952, by Rev. Klemp, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Sharon was raised in Appleton, where she graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1956. After high school she attended St. Cloud State University where she obtained a teaching degree.

On April 25, 1959, Sharon was united in marriage to Orlen Avelsgard. This union was blessed with over 63 years together and two children: Michele and Jason. The couple raised their family in Appleton. Sharon was a long-time teacher the high schools in Milan and Bellingham, retiring in 1990. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.

Sharon passed away Monday evening, December 26, 2022, in her home. She attained 84 years, 2 months, and 24 days of age. Sharon is survived by her husband, Orlen Avelsgard of Appleton; children: Michele (Alan) Engholm of Clarkfield and Jason Avelsgard of Appleton; six grandchildren: Rebecca Brandon, Christopher Hand, Katherine Joffre, Cameron (Hannah) Avelsgard, Tanner (Heidi) Avelsgard, and Kaytlin Avelsgard; seven great-grandchildren: Bentley, Avery, Braylee, Henley, Maverick, Jordyn, and Emerson; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Marvin and Verna Schreck. Blessed be the memory of Sharon Jeanine Avelsgard.
