Sharon Rudi, 83, died peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Murdock. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 7, at the Zniewski Funeral home in Benson. Visitation will continue from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, on Saturday, May 8, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Sharon Rose Rudi was born on July 20, 1937 to Clarence and Rosella (Grimm) Lobitz. She grew up on a farm in rural Waconia, Minnesota. She was baptized on August 15, 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was confirmed there on May 15, 1951. In 1953 Sharon was united in marriage to Wayne Rickert and from that marriage they had six children: Virgene, Verlyn, DuWayne, Gary, Linda and Robert. On July 3, 1970 she married Charles Rudi and moved to Danvers, Minnesota. In 1976 they moved to Swift Falls, Minnesota where they later purchased a small farm.
Sharon worked at Sandy’s Café for over 20 years until she retired. She loved gardening and was especially fond of flower gardening. She also loved family events and get togethers. Sharon passed away on May 3, 2021 in her sleep.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Rosella: her husband Charles Rudi: a daughter: Virgene Rickert, a son: Robert Rickert, a grandson: Devin Rickert, a brother: Ronald Lobitz, a sister: Lois Hermann, a brother-in-law: Gerald Hermann and a daughter-in-law: Donna Rickert. Sharon is survived by her children: Verlyn (Mary) Rickert of Harrisburg, South Dakota, DuWayne (Carmen) Rickert of Montevideo, Gary (Anita) Rickert of Pennock and Linda (Jeff) Heike of Murdock: 11 grandchildren: 23 great grandchildren: a sister Mary (Jerry) Volkenant of Waconia and several other relatives and friends. Blessed be her memory.
