Shirley Ann Lee, 82, died on Monday, February 9, 2026, at CentraCare – Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will continue at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery. Zniewski Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley Ann Lee was born July 5, 1943, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Sidney and Evelyn (Anderson) Sorenson. She was baptized November 14, 1943, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Pennington County, Minnesota. She was later confirmed into the Christian faith. Shirley grew up in Thief River Falls, Albert Lea, and Watson, Minnesota, graduating from Milan High School.
On September 1, 1962, Shirley married Robert E. Lee, Sr. at Watson Lutheran Church. Together they made their home in Benson and were blessed with five children: Daniel, Mike, Julie, Teresa, and Rob. Shirley worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Meadow Lane Health Care Center and a paraprofessional at Benson Public Schools. She was a member at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson and was involved in many church activities.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, bowling, watching the Timberwolves, spending time with her family, and being with her dog Lucy and cat Buttons.
Shirley was called from this life on Monday, February 9, 2026, at CentraCare – Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota, surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old. Shirley is survived by her children: Mike (Connie) Lee of Benson, Julie (Rick) Motzko of Benson, Teresa (Mike) Molden of Benson, and Rob (Michelle) Lee of Benson; ten grandchildren: Jordan (Hannah) Lee, Briana (Adam Wilde) Lee, Andrew (Anna) Motzko, Nathan (Kristina) Motzko, Luke (Tiffany) Motzko, Krista (Cole) Bassett, Zach (Brooke) Molden, Leah (Coty Milhausen) Molden, Daniel (Abby) Lee, and Rachel (Taylor) Wiebold; 13 great-grandchildren: Harper Lee, Brody and Aubrey Motzko, Maci and Chloe Motzko, Chandler and Baby (July 2026) Bassett, Maxine Molden, Lainey Milhausen, Mason and Hudson Lee, and Mariah and Britta Wiebold; sister Connie (Bruce) Streed of Milan; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Lee, Sr., infant son Daniel Robert Lee, and her parents Evelyn and Jacob Stennes, and Sidney Sorenson.
