Shirley Reba Ann Swan

Shirley Reba Ann Swan, 85, was born on March, 15, 1936, in Kensett Arkansas, the daughter of Allen Layfayette and Gertrude Alice Swan. She was raised in Kensett, Arkansas.  She taught herself to read and write and grew up working in the cotton fields.

On December 27, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Norma Earnest Swan in Augusta, Arkansas. After their marriage they lived in Indiana, Yuma, Arizona, Klamath Falls, Oregon, Benson and Clontarf in Minnesota, Searcy, Arkansas, and Duluth, Alexandria, and Brandon Minnesota. She was a homemaker but worked for a time in a nursing home and in a pawn shop in Duluth. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts, baking, gardening, fishing, and squirrel hunting. She loved spending time with her family.  She was called from this life on Friday morning December 4, 2021 at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Kirk) Swan of Rosebud, Arkansas, Tarance Swan of Brandon, Minnesota, and Steven (Katie) Swan of Elk River, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Norma, who died on December 11, 2015, her parents Allen and Gertrude, her sisters Edna, Evalou, Alamae, Dimple, Janice, and Alfie, and her brother Hershal. A private family service will be held.  Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements
