Stephanie Ann Heinzig

Stephanie Ann Heinzig was born June 18, 1973, in Kankakee, Illinois, the daughter of Stephen and Sandra (Lee) Twait. She grew up in Kankakee, attending school and graduating from Herscher High School in Herscher, Illinois. She continued her education and received her Bachelor’s Degree at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

June 15, 1996, Stephanie married Michael C. Heinzig. Together they raised their daughter Emma. They moved from Kankakee, Illinois, in 2001 and moved around the country until moving to Benson, Minnesota, in 2005. They lived in Boston, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Duluth, Minnesota, Gallup, New Mexico, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Stephanie was a social worker before becoming an administrator at the Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee. She held many different jobs during her 20 years living in Benson. She was a substitute teacher, manager of the Chamber of Commerce, and worked in various administrative positions in businesses around town.

Stephanie enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and golfing with her husband Mike.

Stephanie is survived by her daughter Emma Heinzig of Chicago, IL (formerly of Benson, MN), parents Stephen and Sandra Twait of Kankakee, IL, and sister Kiersten (Ernest) Twait-Datcher of Palatine, IL, mother-in-law, Irene Heinzig of Benson, brother-in-law Jason Heinzig of Benson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding Stephanie in death were her husband Michael Heinzig in 2019, father-in-law Harold Heinzig, grandparents Truman and Eleanor Twait, and grandparents Chester and Virginia Lee.

Stephanie was called from this life on Wednesday, January 08, 2025, at her home in Benson. No formal services will be held.
