Benson, Minnesota, Steven Elmer Slaughter, 61, of Benson, died at this home. A private family service will be held.

Steven Elmer Slaughter was born August 27, 1958, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Henry E. and Margaret A. Larson Slaughter. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He grew up in the Murdock area and graduated from Murdock High School in 1976.

On May 22, 1982, Steven was united in marriage to Maree T. Osterbauer at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff. This union was blessed with over 38 years of marriage, four children, and two grandchildren. They made their home in rural Swift County.
Steven worked as a truck driver and was an operations and maintenance supervisor at Benson Schools. He owned and operated his own plumbing business. He enjoyed driving, going on trips, riding his motorcycle, and taking care of his farm. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was called from this life on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at his home near Benson.

Steven is survived by his wife Maree of Benson; his children Russell Slaughter of Fargo, North Dakota, Jacob Slaughter of Benson, Mollee (David) Mielke of New Germany, and Emily (Justin) Craig of LeSuer; his grandchildren Lillian and Cyrus Craig, and Baby Mielke on the way; his sister Sheila (Rob) Hurley of Danube; his father-in-law Jerry Osterbauer, of DeGraff; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Margaret, a sister MaryLou Johnson, and his grandparents. Blessed be his memory.
