Victor Willard Arnold

Victor “Vic” Arnold, age 94 of Appleton, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, in Appleton Area Health-Hospital. Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Pastor Linda Wimmer will officiate. Interment will be in Appleton City Cemetery. Due to an immune-compromised member of Vic’s family, all those attending services are requested to wear a face mask. Thank you!

Victor Willard Arnold was born November 30, 1929, the son of Henry Arnold and Luella Larson Arnold in Graceville, Minnesota.

Vic grew up on a farm north of Appleton, in Hegbert Township. He attended Hegbert Township Country School and Appleton High School, graduating with the Class of 1947. October 8, 1949, Vic married Jeannine Carstens at Fairfield Lutheran Church. Vic and Jeannine shared 68 years together before she passed away on May 8, 2018. Together, they lived on a farm in Hegbert Township and raised three children: Randall, Gregory, and Victoria. While farming Vic measured land for Farm Services Agency.

Vic served in the National Guard for about one year. He was on the school board in Hegbert Township, was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Council, Hegbert Township Board, Appleton Elevator Board, Cattlemen’s Association, and the Swift County Fair Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Vic is survived by his children: Randall (Pati) Arnold of Appleton, MN and Gregory (Ellen) Arnold of Appleton, MN; his four grandchildren: Jesse Arnold, Joshua (Jill) Arnold, Lee (Claire) Arnold, and Shelby Arnold; and his two great-grandchildren: Shaye Arnold and Isaiah Arnold.

Vic was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine in 2018; his parents, Henry and Luella Arnold; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Calvin Byre; great-granddaughter, Brynn Arnold; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Meredith Ulstad; parents-in-law Herman and Selma Carstens; sisters-in-law: Ruby (Harvey) Thielke and Inez (Walter) Beyer; and brother-in-law Kenneth (Linda) Carstens.
