Virginia Holland

Virginia Holland, of Appleton, MN passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at Appleton Area Health Care Center at the age of 87.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11:00am at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Pastor Gary Mills will officiate and burial will be in the Appleton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

On July 10, 1937, in Morris, MN, Virginia Marie Neitzel was born to parents Herman and Erna (Thieman) Neitzel. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith, which remained an important part of her life. Virginia graduated from Morris High School and later attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis, where she earned her cosmetology license. On January 19, 1969, she was united in marriage to Donald Holland in Morris, MN. The couple made their home in Appleton, MN, where they raised their three children. During her years in Appleton, Virginia held a variety of roles— she was the owner of her hair salon Virginia's Beauty Service, a hair stylist, a certified nursing assistant at the local nursing home, and the owner of Country Lane clothing store.

Virginia was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, where she was actively involved in many church activities, especially during the years her children were growing up. Virginia had a passion for antique shopping and could often be found browsing garage sales in search of hidden treasures. She also cherished time spent at the lake and had a fondness for playing cards—solitaire being her favorite. Above all, Virginia treasured time with her family. Her greatest joy came from being with her children and grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her children, James (Lottie) Holland of Dawson, Lisa (Janssen) Aaron of Maplewood, and Jason (Jodie) Holland of Marshall; grandchildren, John Lanchinebre, Jacob Holland, Ascher Holland, Easton Holland and Maverick Holland; sister, Lorraine Neitzel of Morris; and several extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald in 2002; and sister, Romelle Neitzel.
