William Jerol Livingston was born in Canby, Minnesota, on August 28, 1931, the son of Lawrence and Grace Miller Livingston. He grew up in Canby and graduated from Canby High School in 1949. Under Bill's name in "The Lancer" yearbook it reads "Little Mr. Fixit". Bill then studied to become an electrician like his father at the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Bill served his country in 1954 by enlisting in the United States Army during the Korean War. He trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma 2nd Field Artillery Battalion. "Battery B Bill" was trained on the M65 280mm atomic cannon and went on to train officers on the emplacement of the 105mm Howitzer. William was a master electrician and worked many years for the Ford Motor Company in St. Paul while living in Richfield. His main hobby was wood carving and after retirement he lived in Watertown MN, the Brainerd area, then moved back to Canby. He died on Saturday August 19, 2023, at the Appleton Area Health Services Nursing Home just 9 days short of age 92. Bill is survived by sons, Jon Livingston of Magnolia, Texas, and Jeffery Livingston of Richfield and a sister, Joan (Jack) McGee of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Grace, a sister Susie Slama. Followed in death by his daughter Vicky on October 8, 2023. Blessed be their memory. The family will have an interment service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 28. 2023.
