Joseph Wilhelmy, 78, of Beverly Hills, FL, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. Joe was the loving husband of Oronah (Kamrud) for 51 years and loving father to Ann (Roger) of Lindstrom, MN and Tim (Kendra) of West Palm Beach, FL. He was also the proud grandfather to Jack, Taylor and Matthew and he cherished the time he spent going to all of their events.
Joe has always had a love for sports. He began his career as a professional golfer but later his passion for fishing led him to become the owner and operator of a fishing resort in Canada. His family moved to Florida full-time in 1985 and eventually settled in Big Pine Key. There he spent years catching his fair share of “lunkers”. Retirement in 2005 brought them to Beverly Hills where he and Oronah continued to fish and he devoted his weekend and evening hours to watching his favorite sports teams. He was also active in the Pine Ridge Fishing Club, serving as President, and on the Board of the German-American Club.
Born September 28, 1939 in St. Paul, MN, he was the son of the late George and Emily Wilhelmy. He is survived by twelve of his brothers and sisters, Gus, Kay, Jim, Mary Jean, Dave, Jerry, Jeanette, Joan, Larry, Judy, Julianne, and Janice and is preceded in death by his brothers George and Jack.
Joe will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Hancock, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: the Key West Chapter of the American Cancer Society at American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 (Please note “Restrict to Key West” on the donation check) or to Habitat for Humanity in Citrus County (www.habitatcc.org).
