Carol Margaret Trost was born February 28, 1915 at the home of her parents, Carl and Christina (Lundquist) Pederson in Chokio, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Chokio. After graduating from Chokio High School in 1933, she earned her teaching credentials and taught country school, substituted and especially enjoyed teaching several years of spring kindergarten and special education. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Trost, on June 13, 1937. Carol was a devoted wife for 54 years, until Lloyd's death on May 21, 1991, and a loving mother to her two sons, Bob and Jon. They lived in Chokio, Graceville, and in 1966 they moved to Appleton where they lived through retirement. Carol and Lloyd enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Lake Minnewaska during the summer and enjoyed winters in Edinburg, Texas. In 2011, she moved to Fergus Falls to be closer to her family. Carol was very involved in her church, serving on various committees, teaching Sunday school, and the ZLCW. She was a wonderful cook and loved to visit and to entertain her many friends. Carol was a great bridge player and also enjoyed playing cards and bingo at her assisted living apartment. Watching college basketball games on T.V. was also a favorite pastime. Carol loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Sunday, March 22, 2015, Carol passed away at Broen Home in Fergus Falls at the age of 100 years and 22 days. Carol is survived by her sons: Bob (Marilyn) Trost of Fergus Falls and Jon (Karin) Trost of Champlin; 6 grandchildren: Scott Trost, Randy (Kim) Trost, Kari (Darren) Johnson, Stephanie (Jamie) Davis, Erik (Bobbie Jo) Trost, Brian (Julie) Trost; 15 great-grandchildren: Tara, Alyssa, Becca and Andrew Johnson, Ashleigh Dietz and Jami Scott, Brandi and Kylie Trost, Tyler, Ryan, and Alyssa Davis, Linnea and Kendall Trost, Dylan and Cody Trost ; brother, Lee Pederson of Barrett; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 1991; her parents, Carl and Christina Pederson; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters. Blessed be the memory of Carol M. Trost.
