Alice Faye Schwab

Alice Faye Schwab, 78, of Appleton, MN died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Alice was born March 11, 1936, in Carrington, ND to William "Bill" and Marie (Parkhill) Watson. She grew up in rural Sykeston, ND and attended grade school at Hebron Consolidated School. She graduated from Carrington High School in 1954 and attended Jamestown College. On June 30, 1956 she married James Schwab in Jamestown, ND. Alice and Jim moved to Appleton in 1958. She was employed by Appleton School District in the food service department for 24 years, 13 years as Head Cook. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Altar and Rosary Society and a life member of Appleton VFW Auxiliary. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, sewing, playing cards and working crosswords and sudoko's. She loved music and enjoyed attending the summer concert series at the park. She played organ at St. John's Catholic Church for many years. She was also involved in many volunteer activities and served on various church committees. Alice is survived by her husband, James "JJ" Schwab of Appleton; her five children: Debra (Ron) Askeland of San Diego, CA, Teresa Schwab of Ft. Collins, CO, Jeffrey Schwab of Appleton, Sandra (Schwab) West of Shasta Lake, CA, and Michael (Maria) Schwab of Norcross, GA; ten grandchildren: Sarah and Karen Askeland, Heidi (Dave) Scott, Chad Schwab, Adam Schwab, David (Vianney) West, Jessica and Michelle West, and Jeremy and Krysta Schwab; five great-grandchildren: Christopher, Alexander, Daniel, and Grace Scott and Gabriel West; four sisters: Dorothy Folkert of Eugene, OR, Ruth (Magnus) Johnson of Carrington, ND, Betty (Joe) Holzer of Harvey, ND, and Mary (John) Halvorson of Alexandria, MN; two brothers: Kenneth (Frieda) Watson and Charles (Mary Ann) Watson both of Carrington, ND; her sister-in-law, Betty Jane Watson of Carrington, ND; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant granddaughter, Brittany Schwab; and her brother, James Watson. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice-Appleton Branch or St. John's Altar Society.
