Scott A. Hagen

Scott Anthony Hagen, was born on March 08, 1963, in Benson, MN the son of Jerome and Jacqueline Hagen. He was baptized on March 17, 1963 at St. Francis Catholic Church by Father Mark Deutz and confirmed at St. Francis Catholic Church on March 23, 1975 by Bishop AJ Schladweiler. He graduated from Benson High School and Willmar Technical College. On January 12, 1985, Scott was united in marriage to Kelly Himley at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson by Pastor Lyle Rich. This union was blessed with three children and 26 years of marriage. Scott worked for his parents at the Benson Bowler and his grandfather at McCarthy's Lumber. He then worked as a farm manager and worked some winters at Case Tyler (CNH). He enjoyed all kinds of fishing and made Muskie lures. He was a member of the "Chain Gang" for Benson Varsity Football. Scott loved spending time with his family, especially participating with and watching his children play sports. He also enjoyed hunting (pheasant, elk and deer), softball, golf, bowling, wildlife photography and spending time with his dogs hunting and fishing. He was called from this life on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Swift County Benson Hospital. He attained the age of 48 years, 1 month, and 16 days. Scott is survived by his Wife Kelly Hagen of Benson; three children, Brody (Natasha) Hagen of Benson, Aaron Hagen and his special friend (Heidi Abbas) of Benson, Brennan Hagen and her special friend (Brennan Kent) of Benson; his father Jerry (Pat) Hagen of Benson; sisters Kimberly (Coco) Hagen, Holly Hagen and her special friend (Mike Hamilton), and Roxanne (Rick) Wrobleski, all of Benson; a stepbrother, Todd (Laura) Larson of Minot, ND; two stepsisters, Amy (Jerome) Kent of Clontarf and Jill (Jason) Doscher of Benson; several nephews, nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline Hagen, maternal grandparents, George and Beverly McCarthy, and paternal grandparents, Albert and Myrtle Hagen. It was Scott's wish that monetary gifts be given in his honor/memory to his oncologist, Dr. Julian Molina, to support his continued research for a cure for this terrible disease in the hopes that no other person will ever have to endure what he has this past 5 1/2 years.
