Katherine Louise O'Leary

Katherine Louise O’Leary, 67, of Starbuck, MN, died on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Mayo Clinic - Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Lakeside in Glenwood, Minnesota. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, Minnesota.

Katherine Louise O’Leary was born on December 27, 1955, in Benson, Minnesota, to Luverne T. Ostby and Adeline Sophie Danielson. Kathy grew up in Benson and attended Benson Public Schools. February 1, 1975, she was united in marriage to William David O’Leary. She and Bill were blessed with three children: Megan, Erin, and Ryan, and six grandchildren.

Kathy lived and worked on the family farm in Danvers until her retirement. She and Bill then moved to Starbuck and enjoyed living on Lake Minnewaska. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, traveling to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, and visiting friends there, watching Minnesota sports teams, and snuggling with the grandpuppies.

Kathy is survived by her husband Bill O’Leary of Starbuck, MN, children: Megan (Jake) O’Leary Sanders of Glenwood, MN, Erin (Mark) O’Leary Gorres of Starbuck, MN, and Ryan O’Leary of Danvers, grandchildren: Liam, Luke , and Olivia Sanders, Ian, Dillon, and Nora Gorres, siblings: Al (Barb) Ostby of Minnetonka, MN, Larry Ostby of Frederick, MD, and Kari Manthei of Glenwood, MN.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Luverne and Adeline Ostby, brother Jeff Ostby, sisters-in law: Jo Ostby and Pat Thue, brother-in-law Gary Krueger, and father and mother-in-law James and Winnifred O’Leary.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Pope County Humane Society.

Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
