Peter Thomas Robert Hughes, 31, Starbuck, MN, died Monday, January 17, 2022, at his home in Starbuck, MN. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2022 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2022, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Peter was born May 8, 1990 to Timothy and Carrie (Johnson) Hughes. The youngest of three siblings.  He was baptized June 10, 1990 at the Church of Visitation in Danvers and confirmed March 24, 2007 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Peter graduated from Benson High School and went on to attend Hutchinson Community College to obtain a degree in Non-Destructive Testing and working as a Quality Control Specialist.

Peter was an avid outdoorsman. Throughout his life Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, basketball, town baseball, softball, and watching professional sports. Peter was a lifelong member of the Church of Visitation in Danvers and Pheasants Forever. Peter was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. His nieces and nephew adored their “Uncle Peter” and he made each of them feel so loved. He was a hard worker and enjoyed helping others. Peter could always be found on the farm in his spare time helping during planting and harvest season. The best grain cart driver around! Peter was a quiet and warm gentle soul, who will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know him.

Peter is survived by his parents, Timothy and Carrie Hughes of Danvers; Siblings Nicole Van Ruler of Steamboat Springs and Andrew (Kayla) Hughes of Alexandria; nieces and nephew: Mya Van Ruler, Blake, Lyla, & Lauren Hughes; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas and Madeline Hughes and Robert and Bernice Johnson, uncle Daniel Hughes and aunt Marlene Mohrman.
